History
Founded in 1942 by Don Hilario de la Mata in Madrid, the company began distributing Rioja wines. Over the following decades, it expanded its portfolio with national and international brands, acquired wineries, and diversified its activities into the food and other sectors. In the 1990s, it was formally established as Grupo Varma, integrating new companies and expanding its presence in different markets. The group has maintained its family-owned character and celebrated milestones such as its 75th anniversary in 2017, consolidating its position as a leading distributor in Spain.


Product types
The company distributes spirits, wines, food, and personal and household care products. Its notable products include rums such as Ron Barceló, gins such as Bluwer Gin, food brands such as Capitán Maní and Mary Lee, and personal care brands such as Old-Spice and Just for Men. It also produces spirits and liqueurs made with Albariño grapes and dulce de leche.
