ELABORATION OF WINES

History
Bodegas Fariña was founded in 1942 by Salvador Fariña and Tomasa López in Casaseca de las Chanas, Zamora, under the name Bodegas Porto. In 1968, their son Manuel Fariña, after training in oenology, modernized and expanded the winery. In the 1970s, they began producing the first 'Colegiata' wines, changing the paradigm of Toro wines. In 1986, the winery was renamed Bodegas Fariña due to European regulations. Manuel Fariña was one of the driving forces behind the Toro Designation of Origin and its first president. The winery has been a pioneer in introducing new viticulture and winemaking techniques in the region. In 1995, the 'Primero' wine was launched, the first carbonic maceration wine in the area. In 2015, the third generation, Manu Fariña, joined the management team, continuing the commitment to innovation and the development of new wine lines. In recent years, the winery has renewed the image and style of its wines, consolidating its position as a benchmark in the region.

Product types
The company offers a wide range of wines under the Toro and Vinos de la Tierra de Castilla y León Designation of Origin. Highlights include: Pr1mero (a young carbonic maceration wine, 100% Tinta de Toro), Colegiata Blanco (100% Malvasía), Colegiata Rosado (100% Tempranillo), Colegiata Tinto, Fariña Lágrima, Fariña Crianza, Gran Colegiata Original, Campus Gothorum, the Modernas Tradiciones series (such as Águedas and Mascaradas), and Val de Reyes sweet wines. They also offer wine tourism experiences and guided tours of the winery and museum.

Mission
The mission of Bodegas Fariña is to produce wines that express the personality of the Toro region, focusing on quality, innovation, and sustainability, and highlighting the family legacy and the region's winemaking traditions. The vision is to establish itself as a leading winery in the winemaking world, maintaining a balance between tradition and modernity and promoting international recognition for Toro wines.
