Martín Códax was a famous Galician troubadour from the 13th century who inspired and gave his name to our most iconic wine. His cantigas, which evoke gallant love and passion for the sea, are the oldest in Galician-Portuguese for which their original music is preserved. His imprint is present in the design of the bottle, with details such as the score of one of his cantigas included in the cork or the transcription of the lyrics on the label. Created in 1986, Martín Códax Albariño is made with grapes hand-selected by our winegrowers from plots located in the heart of the Val do Salnés. It follows a rigorous and careful process to guarantee its varietal purity and the traditional essence of the wines originating from this sub-region of the Rías Baixas. Each bottle is a faithful reflection of the Atlantic. Mara Moura is made from a selection of Godello vineyards on both slate and granite soils, which allows for aromatic complexity and greater freshness. Alcoholic fermentation is carried out at low temperatures and batonnage is carried out twice a week to keep the lees in suspension, thus providing smoothness and complexity to the wine. To enhance the aromatic sensations, a small quantity of Treixadura grapes is added to the wine, which provides floral and mineral notes. The result is a fresh and energetic wine, in which the typicality of the varietal stands out and with great aging potential.
