Viticulture has existed for more than 2,000 years around the Castell de la Bleda, in the heart of the Penedès, the land of origin of Familia Torres. Iberian, Roman, medieval and just before phylloxera vestiges have been found. Since the early 1980s, we have been working on the recovery of ancestral varieties to help recover Catalonia's wine heritage and seek solutions to climate change. Over time, we have verified that some of them, in addition to showing great oenological potential, are extremely resistant to high temperatures and drought. This is the case of moneu, an ancestral variety originating from Penedès, which we reintroduced by planting it on the Castell de la Bleda estate and now we incorporate, with special excitement, into the Clos Ancestral blend.
