“Urgèlia” is the only cheese from Catalonia recognised with the Protected Designation of Origin (DOP Queso del Alt Urgell y la Cerdanya), thanks to its quality, guarantee of origin and long tradition. It is a washed rind cheese, with a soft and creamy texture and a smooth and balanced flavour. Its traditional maturation favours the development of aromas with notes of toasted nuts, moss and mushrooms. It combines very well with quince and nuts, excellent in cooking, in raclettes, fondues, pasta dishes, pizzas, soups, etc.


Features

  • DOP cheese, semi-cured, ivory-coloured, pressed paste, with numerous well-distributed holes of irregular size. Natural rind of light orange colour. Characteristic fruity aroma. Fine and very creamy texture. Very distinctive taste.
