In La Rioja, at the beginning of the seventies, the cultivation of "gherkin" was recurrent and of great importance, being the area with the highest production in Spain. The gherkin was sold primarily in bulk or "pickled" in bulk to foreign packers. The producers grouped themselves creating companies for the joint commercialization: Riojalna and Asperio (Association of Gherkins of Rioja), were the pioneers in packing this product in glass jars. Over time, several professionals linked to these companies give continuity to the work undertaken, founding Comercial Rioverde, S.A. in 1976, with the aim of producing, packaging and marketing pickles and preserves of the highest quality.

The company was founded in 1976 as Comercial Rioverde, SA, continuing the work of gherkin producer groups on the banks of the Ebro River. For more than 45 years, it has maintained its commitment to quality and innovation in the pickle sector. In December 2022, Comercial Rioverde acquired the assets of Conservas Calzado, a company founded in 1941 in Bolaños de Calatrava, marking a new era focused on local products, artisanal production, and support for the area's agriculture.

The company offers a wide range of pickled and preserved vegetables. Highlights include gherkins, chili peppers, piparra peppers, olives, spring onions, Almagro eggplants, salads, and carrots. It also sells prepared dishes, legumes, stuffed peppers, and varieties of organic products.
