In this tour we must highlight a very sign ...ificant date, 1986, when two of the most important national sugar companies of the moment and with the greatest historical presence in our country, Sociedad General Azucarera Española (SGAE) and Compañía de Industrias Agrícolas (CIA), decided to undertake together the road to technical and commercial innovation in the area of ??baking yeast. This is how Compañía General de Levadura (CGL) was born, a group of companies that began their journey by providing a factory and their own brands, because SGAE put at the service of CGL its factory in Valencia (1924) and the Danube brand, while CIA did the same with its Valladolid factory (1953) and the Hercules brand. A firm commitment to technological development and quality that served as an embryo to the group we now know as Lesaffre Ibérica. During the five years that followed the union of both industries, CGL focused on the development of an ambitious business creation plan whose objective would be the launching of an industry specializing in baking yeast able to meet the needs of the sector, both from the traditional bakery as well as from the incipient industrial bakery. For this, strong economic investments were made, in addition to the creation of professional teams in each area of ??the company and the development of various types of fermentative profiles that gave rise to new techniques for improving the traceability and conservation of products.
