Activity
The company is dedicated to the production of txakoli, a traditional white wine from the Getaria region, producing wines from its own, century-old vineyards, with a focus on quality and family tradition.
History
The company's origins date back to 1898 in Getaria, founded by Katalin Iturzaeta, who worked the vineyards under difficult conditions and laid the foundation for the local winemaking revival. Her grandson, Antonio Aranzabal, maintained the vineyards when most were replaced by other crops and implemented innovations in the production process, such as the use of stainless steel tanks. Today, the fourth generation of the Aranzabal family continues the business, maintaining the tradition and commitment to the quality of txakoli.
Product types
The company primarily produces white txakoli under the Getariako Txakolina Designation of Origin, made with the native Hondarrabi Zuri and Hondarrabi Beltza varieties. Its highlight is the Katalin Iturzaeta txakoli, recognized for its distinctive character, limited production, and high ratings in specialized guides such as Robert Parker's.
Mission
The company's goal is to offer a unique, high-quality txakoli, faithful to the family tradition and the legacy of its ancestors, while maintaining the authenticity and character of Getaria wines. Its goal is to preserve and transmit the region's finest winemaking traditions through a limited and carefully curated production.
