Bodega Berroja is a family business, located in the Urdaibai Biosphere Reserve, with a social reason in Bilbao and dedicated to the production and elaboration of Txakoli wine (chacoli), under the commercial brands: Txakoli Aguirrebeko and Txakoli Berroja, as well as the realization enoturisticas activities and of team building, taking advantage of the natural resource in which they are the 26 has, of vineyard.
History
The company began operations in 1995, transforming a pine forest into a vineyard for the native Hondarrabi Zuri variety. The first vines were planted in 1998, and the first harvest was carried out on its own premises in 2001. In 2005, it began international exports, and in 2008, it obtained Integrated Production System certification, reinforcing its commitment to sustainability. A social hall for events was opened in 2010, and in 2023, the winery will celebrate its thirtieth anniversary, maintaining its focus on quality and tradition.
Product types
The company produces different types of txakoli under the Bizkaiko Txakolina Designation of Origin. Its notable products include: Aguirrebeko (its most iconic wine), Lento Latido (tank-aged txakoli), Berroja (premium txakoli), Ola Oeste (ancient single-vineyard txakoli), Rossé (100% Hondarrabi Beltza rosé txakoli), and Maddy (exclusive single-vineyard wine). They also offer wine tourism experiences and wine-related activities.
