Activity
Pere Boadas and his wife María Vilaplana founded the current company BOADAS 1880. Something that the couple took very much into account in the service to their customers was hygiene (something unusual at that time), and all the meat was wrapped in paper. parchment. One of the children of both, Pere Boadas, continued with the family business being he the true architect of the expansion of the company in the years that followed. Sales soon forced the slaughter of more head of cattle, but the clientele only consumed what was sold cheaper (bacon, fat, heads ...), leaving unsold the most noble parts (lean, especially hams). Little by little, in the back of the house, extensions were made in the facilities and new buildings that allowed to cure hams. This factory is what forms the current structure of the company, including underground and four plants of natural dryers. In it, the first cold store of the province was built, which meant a considerable increase in production, allowing it to be prepared throughout the year. In 1932, the company considered the convenience of placing itself at a European level in manufacturing, for which it hired a German expert in high delicatessen. The postwar period was a difficult time in all the industry, of which Boadas was recovering as it did the country. In 1946, after the death of Pere Boadas, it is her three children who continue to direct her. Soon they decide to suppress the slaughter of cattle and dedicate themselves exclusively to the manufacture of elaborated products. In the following years the company maintains a continuous growth that leads to its expansion in 1978. During the eighties the fourth generation was incorporated to the company, taking the direction of it in 1986. In its already long history. Boadas has made great strides, however, ensuring that all its products maintain the traditional quality, flavor and aroma that characterize them.
