Bodegas Fernández de Piérola, was born in 1996, with the aim of producing quality wines endowed with a personality that distinguishes them from the pronounced standardization that permeates a large part of Riojas wines. With this double objective, we set up a small winery, family, starting from the family vineyards located in Moreda (Rioja - Alavesa), area of ??long winemaking tradition.
This philosophy of "payment", of vineyard-wine correlation, is in our opinion fundamental for the wines to maintain that strong personality and reflect the unique characteristics of where they come from.
Therefore, our winery is supplied only with grapes from Moreda vineyards, distributed 50% between our own and others.
They are the unique microclimatic and edifices conditions that our vineyards enjoy (moderate rainfall, 450 l / m2, brittle terrain, most of them on slopes facing south, which allows an adequate luminosity, poor soils, clay-calcareous, scarce production, thermal jumps between the important day and night, ...) which allow our Tempranillo variety to reach optimum maturation.
Our philosophy of winery is the production of high quality wines, with a tasting profile where very unique characteristics are appreciated, considering the vineyard a determining factor in quality, without forgetting the winemaking technique, to achieve powerful well-structured wines, with body, where the aromas from Tempranillo are assembled and balanced with those developed in a good and patient aging, to obtain complex, intense and elegant wines.
In accordance with the quality and distinction of our wine, we have presented it in a new bottle in Rioja and I would say that in the rest of the wine regions of Spain, which differs from the rest in that it is something more slender, with a final word " flared ", which reduces the problem of dripping in the service, and also is presented without capsule so that consumers or prescribers of the wine, can see and therefore know the state of conservation of the cork and take the measures they consider relevant.
