The clatter of cowbells can be heard in the distance, announcing the arrival of “O Entroido”. Dressed in their suits and with their zamarra in hand, the cigarrones, the stars of the festivities, parade through the streets and fill the city with colour and joy. They are the symbol of these lands, the “Terras do Cigarrón”. Terras do Cigarrón Tinto is a blend of the two preferred red grape varieties of the DO Monterrei, mencía and merenzao. The grapes used to make this wine come from vineyards spread across the hillside and valley of Monterrei, with a variety of granite, schist and sedimentary soils. After destemming the grapes, a pre-fermentation maceration is carried out at 12oC to enhance the fruity notes. During fermentation, a very gentle extraction is carried out to maintain the freshness, delicacy and exalt the typicality of its varietals. The wine then undergoes malolactic fermentation and is aged in stainless steel.CATAPHASE NOTEVISUALCherry red, medium-bodied and with violet highlights.OLFACTORY PHASEMedium-high intensity, with notes of wild forest fruit (blackberry, raspberry), floral notes (violets) and spices.TASTING PHASEFresh and balanced entry into the mouth with a long mid-palate. The fruity notes of the variety stand out in the retronasal. Fresh and with polished tannins.
