It all starts at Châteaude Bonbonnet. This is where we grow juniper berries, Citadelle's distinctive natural extract, whose character is expressed in harmony with 18 other spices. In September 2017, the first Citadelle juniper was planted in front of the Château de Bonbonnet in Ars. The first official harvest will take place in autumn 2018. Our motivation? Mastering the cultivation of our juniper berries, the main natural extract of Citadelle gin, and proudly defending its French origin. Our goal for the next five years is to cultivate five hectares of junipers. It is essential for us to guarantee the quality of our natural extracts; And for that, what could be better than growing them ourselves? The cognac region is magnificent terrain where wild junipers grew even before vineyards were cultivated. Proud of our region, Citadelle's long-term goal is to work only with local producers for the various natural extracts that make up our gin, even going so far as to produce some of them directly at the Château de Bonbonnet in Ars.
