For more than two centuries, the name DOW has been associated with the best port from the vineyards of the Alto Douro Valley. Throughout the 20th century and well into the 21st, the Symington family has continued to build on the legacy of its predecessors, the Silva and Dow families. Several generations of Symington winemakers have worked at Dow's vineyards: Quinta do Bomfim and Quinta da Senhora da Ribeira, creating from them the wonderfully concentrated Dow's wines, which are intense and tannic when young and mature to a elegance of superlative caste and perfumed with aromas of violets and mint. The attractive and characteristically drier finish of Dow's is the recognizable trademark of the wines of this great port house.
