The history of Casar de Burbia begins in 1989, when Nemesio Fernández decided to dedicate himself to grape growing in Valtuille de Arriba, Bierzo, acquiring and restoring old vineyards in high, less productive areas. Contrary to the general trend, he opted to maintain and graft the old vines with the native Mencía variety. In 1998, together with his children, he produced the first wines, and in 2002 they built their own winery. The project has established itself as a benchmark in the region, focusing on innovation, organic viticulture, and the restoration of traditional techniques.

The company primarily offers organic red and white wines made with the native Mencía and Godello grape varieties. Among its most notable products are its unique wines such as Nemesio, Tebaida Nº5, El Castañal, Hombros, Valdepiñeiro, and Tebaida, as well as Casar de Burbia Mencía and Godello.

Casar de Burbia's fundamental purpose is to highlight the Bierzo region through the production of organic wines that reflect the territory's identity. Its long-term goal is to preserve the essence and nature of the Bierzo region, continuously innovating and maintaining a balance between tradition and technology to create high-quality, authentic wines.
