History
Porrera has a history dating back at least to the 12th century, when it was part of the Siurana territory and passed through various owners, including the Pedrabona Monastery and later the Escaladei Monastery. The town has been the scene of medieval conflicts, Carlist Wars, and liberal episodes, standing out for its insurgent and liberal character. Over the centuries, the local economy has been marked by the cultivation of vines, nuts, and wine production, suffering crises such as phylloxera in the 19th century. In the 20th century, migration and industrialization affected the population, although the proximity to Reus and improved infrastructure helped maintain a relatively stable population level.
