In La Rioja, at the beginning of the seventies, the cultivation of "gherkin" was recurrent and of great importance, being the area with the highest production in Spain.
The gherkin was sold primarily in bulk or "pickled" in bulk to foreign packers.
The producers grouped themselves creating companies for the joint commercialization: Riojalna and Asperio (Association of Gherkins of Rioja), were the pioneers in packing this product in glass jars.
Over time, several professionals linked to these companies give continuity to the work undertaken, founding Comercial Rioverde, S.A. in 1976, with the aim of producing, packaging and marketing pickles and preserves of the highest quality.
