Distribuciones del Jamón Cerezo, is a company that has been in the pork meat products market for more than 50 years. HISTORY
The company was born in 1964 by the hand of Antonio Cerezo in a small shop in Terrassa where the hams that he brought from his hometown (Serón) begin to have great success. With the incorporation of José Antonio Roldán in the mid-70s, the popularity of the quality of their products is growing. Due to the demand of the local traditional trade, the old shop is converted into a small wholesale warehouse of 140 m², of regional scope, with a commercial team made up of three people.
In the middle of the 80 agreements of distribution of first marks in Iberian product are agreed: COVAP (Cooperativa Ganadera of the Valley of the Pedroches) and Sánchez Romero Carvajal (five jotas, 5J). In 1988, the new facilities were inaugurated in the Ctra. Matadepera with 1400 m² and the first own store of Artesanía Ibérica. In the 90s begins the great expansion of Cerezo with an annual growth of around 20% throughout the decade. The number of workers exceeds thirty and the range of products is extended. It is at this time that begins with the production and sale of lots of Christmas and the opening of 2 new stores in Hospitalet and Cornella de Llobregat.
As of the year 2000, exclusive distribution agreements are signed with brands of recognized prestige and solvency: Codorniu, Coqueya cheeses, Juviles hams, Virgin oils of the rosary, etc. It is also from this year that the export activity begins and the participation in international fairs. The original warehouse is also expanded by 600 m² and a new 1,500 m² warehouse is acquired in the Can Petit de Terrassa polygon to favor the production of Christmas lots and improve logistics. New stores are opened in Barcelona and Santa Coloma de Gramanet and Cerezo's human team exceeds 50 workers. In 2007 the company moves to modern facilities of more than 7500 m² to unify the manufacture of lots with the distribution. In 2011, the human team exceeds 70 people. During 2013, Distribuciones del Jamón Cerezo, dared to make the definitive leap by buying the Ham and Serrano ham dryers from Almería. The facilities have 7000 m² and a production of more than 180,000 pieces of ham and serrano pallets.
In 2015, it was decided to give new impetus to the Iberian ham production itself with the acquisition of a new plant in Jabugo, which is founded under the name of Altanza Jabugo. These new facilities, have 9,000m² of which include dryer and natural cellars for 130,000 Iberian ham bait and field bait and Iberian pallets. At present, Cerezo has a turnover of more than € 18 million and a portfolio of more than 6,000 customers. It sells to 10 European countries and markets more than 220 thousand pieces of ham and more than 40,000 lots a year.
