GARAIA, SDAD.COOP.

GARAIA S.COOP. It was born at the end of 1987 as an initiative of a representative group of gardeners from Bizkaia.        In a market where local production has a relatively small importance in volume, but of great importance in quality and tradition, building a unit of joint action was the best way to defend and differentiate the local product from that of other geographical areas.   ...       Achieving fairer prices for the sector, which in turn allowed to maintain agricultural activity in the long term and defend a quality product for the consumer, were two of the main objectives pursued with the creation of GARAIA. Achieving a better quality of life for the producer and adapting commercial processes to the new demands of the market, were other objectives that were achieved with the creation of GARAIA. The main conditions that this new project had to fulfill were the following: Company controlled by the producer-partner Transparent and participatory Specialized in products from the Basque primary sector Currently and after more than 20 years of activity, it is composed of more than 130 partners that produce fruit, vegetables and ornamental plants. Although writing 20 years of history has required profound changes in our processes and products, GARAIA remains faithful to its founding roots in pursuit of the development of the sector. This is the main reason why, today, we are leaders in the market and an unmissable reference in the sector.
