History
HARIBO was founded in 1920 by Hans Riegel in Bonn, Germany, starting as a small family business. In 1922, the first gummy bear was created, the forerunner of today's Goldbears. The company grew rapidly, expanding internationally and establishing subsidiaries in several European countries, including the founding of HARIBO Lakrids A/S in Denmark in 1935 and the opening of the subsidiary in Sweden in 1976. Over the decades, HARIBO has acquired other brands such as MAOAM and adapted its production and products to local markets.
