Absolut Citron is made exclusively from natural ingredients and, unlike many other flavored vodkas, contains no added sugar. Absolut pioneered the flavored vodka market in the mid-1980s with the launch of the now legendary Absolut Citron and Peppard. What began as two flavors has now grown into a collection of 17 flavors. Absolut Citron was good news for lovers of “vodka on the rocks with a slice of lemon” back in the 1980s. It was launched in 1988, nine years after Absolut Original and two years after the first flavored member of the family, Absolut Peppard. It was a huge success among lemon slice drinkers, and it also became the main ingredient in the super-popular “Cosmopolitan.”
