Activity
Turrones Picó is a family business with a solid and long history in the production of nougat and sweets. It is located in Jijona, population where the world's largest production of nougat is concentrated and where it is best known to make the typical Christmas candy. This firm is one of the oldest in the sector, and in fact the history of the company goes back to the 20s, when Antonio Picó Mira opened the first workshop on the current street of Alcoi, right in the center of the municipality. There Antonio gives the first blows of mallet to make the nougat that, in that initial era, was sold mainly in street markets. After the forced stop because of the Civil War, Turrones Picó resumed its activity towards the beginning of the 50s coinciding with the incorporation into the company of the children of the family. With the second generation, the small workshop becomes a factory, although the elaboration process remains faithful to the way the nougat has been made since time immemorial. In this decade the jijonenca company begins to market its nougat and sweets for different points of the Spanish geography. The growth of the company led Antonio Picó to expand the facilities in 1977, and Turrones Picó moved to a new factory, 5,000 meters surface squares, from which consolidates its introduction in the national market and also international, becoming one of the brands of nougat most known and appreciated by consumers. Currently the jijonenca firm already has the third generation in its management positions and has managed to be present in more than 15 countries, both in Europe and in America, Africa and Australia. It forms part of the Regulatory Council of the Jijona Protected Geographical Indication and Nougat of Alicante, which supposes the endorsement that both the production process and the ingredients used meet high quality requirements. Picó turrones are sold in chains and stores specialized

In 1977, they expanded their facilities and moved to their current factory. In 1988, they launched their first television advertisement, and in 2020, they strengthened their presence with a new advertising campaign.
