Activity
Family business founded in 1973. Unión Salazonera Isleña, S.A. (U.S.I.S.A.) is an Andalusian industrial company located in Isla Cristina, province of Huelva (Spain), and dedicated for more than three decades to the elaboration of canned fish and salted fish. U.S.I.S.A. It processes 12,000 tonnes of fish annually, captured on the Huelva coast by the Andalusian artisanal fleet. This, together with a process of manipulation of raw materials with full control of traceability and a completely handmade production, result in preserves with total absence of chemical products. In this way, these preserves offer the maximum guarantee of freshness, flavor and integral nutritional values. U.S.I.S.A., continues and will continue to produce in an artisanal way. It will remain faithful to its centuries-old tradition and will always bet on quality raw materials whose outstanding value is that they are campaign products.

History
USISA was founded in 1973 following the reorganization of Isla Cristina's main salting industries. In 1980, it acquired the TEJERO brand, which boosted its market development. During the 1990s, it opened branches in Valencia and Barcelona and signed its first collective agreement. In 2000-2001, it built new facilities after a significant investment. In the following years, it expanded its presence in the national market, exceeding 250 employees and joining the Regulatory Council of Mackerel and Horse Mackerel of Andalusia. It has obtained quality certifications such as IFS and Q Sostenible, and in 2015 received the Protected Geographical Indication "Mojama de Isla Cristina." In 2017, it opened its online store, and in 2021, it implemented improvements in energy efficiency and water treatment, in addition to revamping its brand image.

Product types
USISA offers a wide range of canned and salted fish, highlighting products such as Isla Cristina mojama, mackerel and frigate tuna fillets, yellowfin tuna, sardines, anchovies, bonito, roe, and salmon in olive oil. Its products are presented under different brands: USISA (premium range), TEJERO (oriented towards families), and El Decano (aimed at the Horeca sector). They also sell anchovies, squid, cockles, fish pâtés, and sea salt.

Mission
USISA's fundamental purpose is to maintain the tradition and quality of canned and salted fish, supporting sustainable development, respect for the environment, and the use of local resources. Its long-term goal is to continue innovating based on tradition, ensuring customer satisfaction and sustainable company growth, while maintaining its essence, linked to Isla Cristina and its family heritage.
