Activity
Back in the 70s in the world of wine closes a stage: the production process is modernized, the world of cava experiences great growth and D.O. Penedès flourishes with force. New times that require new practices. New practices that require new facilities. A new philosophy and a new generation that must face these new challenges. Gil Masana, Josep Carreras, Pere Parera and Josep Esteve belong to families with a deeply rooted agricultural tradition. They were neighbors, friends and decided to become partners. In this new scenario, they joined forces, land and knowledge to start a risky, but exciting project. In the 80s, with clear ideas and the necessary energy, Vins El Cep was born. The soul of that project were, and always will be, those four friends who, starting from their vocation, knowledge and love for the land, were able to lead it to where we are now. They had the grapes and over the years knew how to refine both in the vineyard and in the winery, to obtain wines of great quality and expression.
History
The company has winemaking roots dating back to 1448. In 1980, four families with a long agricultural tradition (Carreras, Esteve, Masana and Parera) joined forces to create Vins El Cep, building the winery on the Can Llopart de les Alzines estate, dating back to 1499. Since then, they have opted for organic farming (since 2001) and biodynamic farming (since 2003), achieving milestones such as the production of the world's first biodynamic cava in 2006. Today, the company is still managed by descendants of the founding families.
Product types
The company offers a range of organic and biodynamic wines and cavas, including cavas (such as Claror, Clos Gelida, and Mim Natura) and still wines (such as Clot del Roure, Pla del Bosc, Gr5 Senders, and Les Madones). They also offer wine tourism experiences such as tours, tastings, and activities at the winery and vineyards.
Mission
The company seeks to achieve a balance between respect for nature and high-quality wine and cava production, focusing on sustainability, responsible management, and environmental preservation through ecological and biodynamic practices.
