20 years in the market It was in 1998 when Luis Ángel, son and grandson of importers and marketers of cod along with his friend and partner Josema, decided to create a society where direct treatment, personalized service and constant communication with the client were the basis of his policy of company. They traveled to the Faroe Islands, Norway, Iceland and other strategic origins looking for suppliers that offered the best raw materials, a search that is still constant today and is a challenge that both partners face every day. There are many who wonder what is the meaning of the name LA BARAJILLA, its origin has a historical source, the term the shuffle was used in the port of Pasajes to classify a size of fish too small for commercialization, but that came to suppose 20% of the catches. The fishermen asked the port company, the size 'the shuffle' to take charge themselves of its commercialization in the markets of its surroundings. From the moment in which the company is founded there is a continuous growth that, thanks to the experience, seriousness and desire to excel, allows us to position ourselves today as a reference company in the cod sector.


History
La Barajilla, SL was founded in 1998 in Irún by Luis Ángel and Josema, descendants of a family with a long tradition in the import and marketing of cod. Since its inception, the company has experienced continuous growth, maintaining a focus on quality, personalized service, and the constant search for the finest raw materials. The company's name pays homage to a local fishing tradition linked to the responsible use of resources.


Product types
The company primarily offers salted cod (whole cod, fillets, loins, tacos, flaked cod, and kokotxas) and frozen cod (fillets and kokotxas). They work primarily with the Gadus morhua species, but also market other species such as Gadus macrocephalus, Molva-molva, Pollachius virens, Micromesistius poutassou, and Molva dypterygia.
